Who We Are
Kwetu Innovations and Cybersecurity Initiative Africa, (KICIA) is a non-profit founded on the conviction that Africa’s greatest resource is its youth. We are builders, trainers, and advocates working to close the digital divide and transform our continent’s narrative from consumer to creator.

We act because we are resolved to change Uganda and Africa’s future by bridging the gap between the formidable challenge and the extraordinary opportunity.
The Challenge
Africa is the largest source and a vital supplier of the world’s natural resources, fueling many of the technologies we rely on. However, the continent continues to export raw materials, missing out on opportunities for growth and development. We believe that the key factor is Africa’s limited innovation capacity, leaving us vulnerable to external dependencies. We don’t reap the full benefits of our resources.
The Opportunity
Africa holds the world’s youngest and most dynamic population. In Uganda, over 78% are under 40 with a very big pool of intelligent, enduring, and inquisitive young people. This demographic is not a burden at all, but instead an unparalleled engine we need for growth and innovation.
